Hi - first-time poster here - I'm glad to find this forum - thanks for making it available...
I am running Battery Pack on a new iPaq h1940 w/PPC2003. I know that the screen backlight control function only works with the Toshiba units.
However, I read in the Journal Bar forum that the developer was getting an iPaq h2215 model, and was hoping maybe for some support for the iPaq's backlight brightness in a future version of Battery Bar.
I used to use the Spb Pocket Plus, and it was able to control my old iPaq h1910's screen brightness, so apparently the iPaq allows control of it from a third-party application.
I really like the Battery Bar, but would enjoy it even more if the screen brightness slider could be made to work.
Thanks for listening...

BP version 5.0.6 is now available... I think you'll find that all works just fine :)

Hmmm... Unfortunatly, I have version 5.0.6 and the backlight slider control does not change my h1940's backlight setting at all. I assumed, since the OmegaOne website specifically says only the Toshiba machines are supported for this feature, that this was by design - hence my request for a feature addition.
If the feature is actually *supposed* to work with the iPaq's now, then something isn't quite right with my setup.
Thanks for any further information you might have on this...

v5.0.6 of Battery Pack unfortunately does not control the backlight brightness for 19xx series iPAQs, mainly due to the fact that HP didn't supply a standard way to control the brightness, and I haven't worked out how to do it any other way yet... :) It DOES support the 2215 however (as this supports HP's own standard backlight functions), and has been tested to work.

<sigh> - Well, thanks for taking the time to reply. I *will* say that, unless the design has changed for the h1940 from the h1910, the backlight is controllable via third-party software, since I had been using the Spb Pocket Plus software before I discovered the (IMO) much superior Battery Pack, and its backlight slider was able to control the h1910's backlight.
I don't know what kind of debugging tools are available for PPC development, but if an API call-tracer is available, you could possibly watch how the Spb software is doing it... (however, I may be the only person interested in it, so its probably just not worth pursuing...)
Anyway, thanks again for the info, and for your time. I really enjoy the great features of the Battery Pack software. I can't imagine using my PPC without it.

I'm always trying to improve the products, so will see what I can do to get the backlight supported on the 19xx devices (I am pretty sure it would work the same for all these devices). It's in my interest too - the 1910 is my daily device also!
