View Full Version : Prob. with Loox 720

For your info, I used the XCPUscalar 2.82 on the 2210 without prob for months.

With my new Loox 720, it conflicts with Spb Pocket Plus (minor glitches, such as the option menu that does not open) and, more seriously, connect2internet Pro, with it the Loox just freeze!
Thanks for your feedback

I have just found out that running XCPUScalar 2.82 on my Pocket LOOX 720 prevents the BT-Manager to start. Also some other programs from the control panel won't start if XCPU Scalar is running in the background. This is independent from the speed the CPU is running...

The Loox runs fine on 624Mhz. But if the BT-manager and some other control panels won't start, it is hardly usable for me with that speed.

Cany you help?

Speeds from 104 to 624MHz should have no problem running as they are defined in the Intel Specification. Speeds above 624MHz run out of specification. But I'm surprised that at 624MHz some programs don't open on the loox 720. I also have problems sometimes with control panel applications not opening on my h4700 but I don't have XCPUScalar loaded or running at time. For me the problems start occuring after I open BlueTooth Manager and using GPS navigation. But again XCPUScalar is not even in the equation here.

I got my hands on the h4700, so a lot of support will be coming as this is my first VGA PDA and hopefully the fixes I have for the h4700 will also fix the Loox 720 problems.

I will try to isolate the problem as it seems the control panel applications not opening is also tied to bluetooth.

Could you try one test.

1.) Disable Keylock if its enabled.
2.) Disable "AutoStart on Soft reset" if its enabled.
3.) Disable Autoscale if enabled.
4.) Disable CPU Meter if enabled.
5.) On speed tab, set speed to 520MHz, click OK to save settings.
6.) Soft reset
7.) Manually start XCPUScalar after the soft reset.

Do you still see the Control panel applications not opening and bluetooth. Increase speed to 624MHz on speed tab and click OK to have changes take effect. Do you see the same problems.

I have already tried all you have said. And I simply started XCPUScalar without overclocking, autoscale, auto-start, no key-lock... Even if it runs on the default speed (520Mhz) it prevents the BT manager from starting. And I cannot access other control panel programs (even those not BT related).

same result here. Still freeze with connect2internet, prevents spb and BT to work properly :( Very sorry of that, because I was very satisfied with it on the 2215!

Does the loox have a built in scale utility, usually "auto" will cause conflicts with XCPUScalar if it exists. What are the bulit-in scale options? Do changing of these make any difference.

Yes it has one, but since it's mentioned in the readme file, I had selected the Turbo mode. If left in Auto mode, the Loox crashes as soon as the built in Power management goes into Power save, namely after few seconds!

As desarzens said, there is an auto scale function. But my LOOX is running on "Turbo" always. If it does not, XCPU Scalar causes an instant crash.

My settings are:
-Turbo mode (max. settings by the LOOX's control panel)
-no key lock
-running XCPU Scalar on default speed of 520Mhz
-no auto-start of XCPU Scalar
-no cpu meter

If I start XCPU Scalar then, I still cannot start the BT manager anymore or some (even not BT related) applications (most from the CP).
So just running XCPU Scalar in the back is causing this problem - unfortunately.

I don't have a firm date, but I will keep you updated and reply to this thread when I do have something.

Fine. I'm really missing your soft, particularly the autoscale fonction that was helpfull to increase the battery life of my 2215. Expect the same on the Loox, beside running it at 624MHz.
See you

I can only agree with 'desarzens' - I am really missing the 624 possible MHz I can get out of the LOOX720. Can't wait for an update... Thank you for your support! Loox720 users are waiting :D

I'm also looking forward to an update. Just got my 720 last night. I'll be buying XCPUScalar as soon as it's updated for the 720.

Although this is the official Immiersoft forum they are not very responsive here... other developer keep their community up to date with the progress. e.g. I would like to know if they were able to track down the problem why XCPUScalar is causing the trouble on the Loox720

I also emailed them, just to make sure they're aware there's an interest.

I did it too without success! No feedback, nothing... Did the same with SpB (some prob. with Pocket Plus 2.1), within a day I got 2 answers and something to test for my Loox! I wish Immiersoft shows the same commitment!

Umm... I think you will find Immiersoft is actually quite busy re-coding XCPUScalar.

As you can appreciate, a lot of new devices have recently hit the market and that is a lot of combatability testing for one person!

Looking back through this thread... he has been active and mentioned 3 days ago that he will let us know when he has something...

You will hear from him :)

Sorrys folks for keeping you waiting, Good news is I have replicated the bluetooth Manager blocking problem and working on fixing that as well as the GUI problems that I have seen on the VGA screen. I will post here when an update is available. Unfortunately system level bugs are harder to fix and require more time plus these VGA PDA's are new and I just got mine.

So thanks for being patient.
And yes its God's will that I fix this problem.

Set your Loox in Turbo mode, 624MHz should be stable, speeds above that may or may not work for everyone.
