Skype for iPhone now supports multitasking with no additional charges for calling over 3G.

Skype upgraded their iPhone app in May to allow users to make calls over 3G data connections. The earlier application has now been updated to allow users to make calls with high quality sound and support multitasking.

"With Skype on your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad, you can make and receive calls, and instant message anyone else on Skype, wherever they are in the world. You can also save on international calls and text messages to phones. Skype is free to download and easy to use. With the latest version, you can now call over 3G*, and keep Skype running in the background.

- Call your Skype contacts wherever you may be, either on 3G or WiFi, with near CD quality sound. It's completely free to call people on Skype over WiFi or 3G*.
