Punctuation/symbolic text entry

Whereas for most of my handwriting WritePad is very accurate, I have been totsllg unsuccessful in using it for entering code for my programming language, J, which uses the symbols a lot instead of alpha characters. Below is an example program in J. Can you offer any suggestions to me, please?
