With 300,000+ Macs in the United States and 600,000+ globally infected with Flashback Trojan, this is now officially the largest known malware outbreak against the Mac. Machines infected with the Flashback Trojan become part of a 'botnet', enabling them to carry out instructions on behalf of the hacker who can then steal passwords and other such personal information from your computer.

"A technical astute named F-Secure, Finland-security based firm, released a step-by-step and detailed instructions for the identification of the threat and the removal process manually. Also Doctor Web, a Russian security firm, who first discovered the virus, created a online tool that will allow users of Mac computers to detect if their computer is infected or not by the threat."
