Have you ever tried to run an app, then have it vanish? Or even worse, when you try to run it again and it won’t start?

You may be surprised to learn that this is the iPad’s default behaviour when an application has an error. Usually the error is an ”out of memory” error. (Becoming quite common on the iPad 1 these days)

Try these steps:

1. Try closing the app in the multitasking bar.
Double tap the home button. This will show an icon representing that app down the bottom. Now hold down on the icon till it shows an ”X” in the corner. Use this to close it.

2. Try rebooting the iPad
Press and hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons simultaneously.
Wait until the Apple logo appears, then release the buttons.

3. Check for updates
Perhaps your app is incompatible with your version of iOS. This can happen if you’ve just had an OS update. Look for new versions by selecting the update tab in the appstore.

4. Reinstall the app
Didn’t help? Perhaps a reinstall of your app is required. Uninstall the app by holding down on the homepage icon, thin clicking the X. Reinstall from the appstore.
