So many great devices on the market... yet so little power!
How does your device rate when it comes to power? There are just so many new and existing Windows Mobile devices on the market to chose from these days... yet the one thing I find is that none of them come with an adequate power supply (in the form of the battery).
Sure the advent of the universal mini usb has allowed us the option to charge on the go - but then again, that depends on your definition of 'on the go'. If charging 'on the go' means having to find an external power source such as a wall socket, or spending X minutes booting up a laptop to charge via a USB port... well, that's not really 'on the go'!
That is why I was excited when I stumbled across the "Just Mobile Gum" which offers the true ability to 'charge on the go'!
"Just Mobile Gum, a perfect Universal USB Power Pack to re-charge your portable electronic devices, to enjoy extra hours on the phone, using your GPS, playing your MP3/ MP4/ PSP, surfing the internet on your PDA etc."
The Just Mobile Gum (not really sure about the name, but it's practical application and portability is right on the mark), is a portable mobile power pack which can be used to charge your Windows Mobile Device. The Just Mobile Gum can also be used to charge most other devices that offer a mini usb port eg: MP3, MP4, Sony PSP etc.
The idea behind the Just Mobile Gum is simple. Take a rechargeable battery pack, make it compact, allow for the use of one usb/mini usb cable, add an on/off switch and a series of 'charge' lights and you have a highly portable, compact, charge on the go accessory for your device!
How does it work?
To charge the Just Mobile Gum and/or charge your device 'on the go', all you need is the Just Mobile Gum and one usb/mini usb cable (a usb/mini usb cable is supplied in the pack).
1. USB Type A Port (Standard USB Port)
2. Power Switch (| = ON while 0 = OFF)
3. Three level LED indicator
4. Mini USB Port
5. Dual Colour Charge LED (Red = Charging while Green = Fully Charged)
Firstly you need to charge the battery pack. This can be done with a usb/mini usb cable via your desktop or laptop, or you can use the standard power charger that came with your device. Once fully charged, the main charge light will change from red to green.
Once the Just Mobile Gum is fully charged, unplug the USB end of the cable form the PC and unplug the mini usb end from the Just Mobile Gum.
Now here's the cool part...
To charge your device 'on the go', simply plug the mini usb end of the cable into your device and plug the USB end of the cable into the Just Mobile Gum and flick the 'on' button. (ie: the same we used to charge the Just Mobile Gum form the PC is 'reversed' and used to charge the device!) The Just Mobile Gum has a mini USB port in one end and a USB port in the other.
As the Just Mobile Gum charges your Windows Mobile device, it is easy to keep track of power remaining via the three charge lights which displayed along the side.
- All three LEDs show the power pack as having between 67% and 100% power remaining.
- Two LEDs show the power pack as having between 34% and 66% power remaining.
- One LED show the power pack as having between 6% and 33% power remaining.
- Zero LEDs show the power pack as having less than 5% power remaining.
One advantage that the Just Mobile Gum does have is that there is no need to 'swap' batteries in the device half way through the da,. and as such, no need to remove the internal battery. Remember that any time the internal battery is removed, the deice will soft reset.
Handy hint...
To conserve power in the Just Mobile Gum, remember to switch the power pack to 'off' when not using it!
So... all in all... charge your Windows Mobile Device 'on the go' anytime, anywhere and never run short of power.
