MemMaid : Enhance the performance of your device!
MemMaid by DinarSoft is a compact program for the Pocket PC offering impressive flexibility and incredible ease of use.
Its main function is to assist in keeping the Pocket PC system clean and an doing so, saves valuable space.
But MemMaid also has some great system tweaking abilities.
Purchase MemMaid
MemMaid is made up of six main sections.
1. The 'Cleaner'
There are two options available in 'Cleaner' mode... 'Quick Cleaner' and 'Advanced Cleaner'. Both offer a similar result, it's just that the 'Advanced Cleaner' mode
enables more user specific input while the 'Quick Cleaner' is automated.
Either way, one of the real advantages of using MemMaid is the ease at which the system can be cleaned.
Simply tap on the 'Scan' icon and MemMaid will perform a scan of the entire Pocket PC system.
|
'Quick Cleaner' Mode
|
Upon launching MemMaid in 'Quick Cleaner' mode, here is what you are presented with. MemMaid is ready to start sweeping the system.
|
|
This shows the result of the 'Quick Cleaner' function. You can see that MemMaid has identified areas of the system which can be safely cleaned. Should you wish not to clean a particular area, simply remove the tick from within that box.
Next, all that needs to be done is tap on the 'Clean' button and MemMaid will clean the system.
Easy, clean and fast!
|
'Advanced Cleaner' Mode
|
The 'Advanced Cleaner' screen is designed with all of the benefits of the 'Quick Cleaner' window however offers the user additional flexibility within the program.
Under 'Advanced Clean', once the scan has been performed MemMaid will list the same results as with the 'Quick Cleaner' mode, however now has the additional option of drilling down within each of the areas as identified by MemMaid.
In the screenshot here you will notice I have chosen to drill down on the 'Dead Registry' area. This now allows the individual selection of which components to 'clean' from the system.
Select the areas you want cleaned, tap on 'Clean' and MemMaid does the rest for you.
As with 'Quick Cleaner' mode, all the benefits of an easy user interface.
|
'Cleaner' Settings
|
While looking over the 'Quick Clean' and the 'Advance Clean' areas of MemMaid, you may notice the three icons situated at the top right hand corner of the MemMaid screen.
The first icon is the 'refresh' icon (used later with other areas of MemMaid).
The second icon is the 'Cleaner Settings' icon. Tapping on this icon shows the following screen.
Once again, an easy user interface allows for quick use and understanding of the 'Cleaner Settings' screen. Here you tailor your own individual settings for both cleaning states.
The 'Close PIE before cleaning' allows for MemMaid to 'clean' all PIE areas within the system (eg: ie cache files, ie cookies,ie history files etc…)
One great function is the ability to set MemMaid to automatically 'Clean with the system start (Quick Mode)' This allows MemMaid to run a sweep of the system with any soft reset.
The other great function is the ability to select 'Secure File delete (wipe)' to ensure all files are safely removed from the Pocket PC.
|
2. The 'Notification Queue'
The second main area within MemMaid is the Notification Queue.
As the name would suggest, this is the area where MemMaid shows the current state of the device notification queue (the queue of processes scheduled to run).
|
Notification Queue
|
On occasion, items within the notification queue will duplicate.
This function of MemMaid allows the user to 'search' the system for duplications within the notification queue and in turn remove the deletions.
Remembering that the more duplications within the notification queue, the slower the performance of the Pocket PC.
At any time within the Notification Queue screen you can tap on the refresh icon (I mentioned earlier - found in the top right hand corner of the screen) to refresh the notification queue.
|
Notification Queue - Add
|
The other option MemMaid gives you within the Notification Queue screen is manually add a 'notification' to the system yourself.
Here is a great tip for using the add function within Notification Queue:
You can add an audio file (.wav) to the notification queue and choose (for example) for this to be executed when the device Powers ON, This will make your PPC play this wav file each time you power on your device.
|
3. Start Up Programs/Services/Today Plug-ins
Start Up Programs/Services/Today Screen Plug-ins is the third main area within MemMaid and allows the user to view the list of programs set to 'start' when the Pocket PC is turned on or reset.
|
Start Up Programs
|
Here you can also remove items from the startup programs list and also add programs. You can also alter the order in which the program launch at startup.
MemMaid make all of these 'tweaks' easy with the user friendly interface.
(You will also notice the 'refresh' icon is accessible for the 'Start Up Programs' screen.)

To save on valuable storage space, you can elect to have the IE Cache Folder moved to a CF Card, and SD Card or an internal storage card (eg: Flash Disk on the ASUS Pocket PC's)
IE Cache size itself can be adjusted, as can Font Cache Size (which can sometimes give additional speed advantages to some of the earlier Pocket PC's by speeding up the display refresh time). You can also can also move the AvantGo Cache Folder to any of the various storage options as mentioned with the IE Cache folder.
Also showing on this screen is a monitor of the Storage versus Memory RAM available.
|
5. Storage Usage
Wondering which programs and files are occupying what space on your Pocket PC? MemMaid offers all of this information in the 'Storage Usage' section.
|
Storage Usage

Easy to view at a single glance showing what is being stored where. It is also easy by means of a quick tap to drill down through each of the respective sub folders again showing what programs/files are taking up space.
By highlighting your selection and then tapping on 'Explore', you are directed to the Pocket Explorer program to that respective folder.
Within the Storage Usage screen you can also delete selected folders.

The Running Processes section within MemMaid shows exactly that. The running processes at that point in time on your Pocket PC.
|
Running Processes
|
You have the option to easily terminate any of these processes by highlighting it and tapping on the 'Terminate' icon.
This area performs similar to that Task manager on a desktop PC.
|
The Bottom Menu Bar Area
Last but not least... this is a handy area of MemMaid if you want to perform such tasks as close MemMaid, get info on your device etc.
|
